San Jose, Calif.-based Nanosolar, a manufacturer of copper indium gallium diselenide solar products, has appointed Eugenia Corrales CEO. Previous CEO Geoff Tate has retired after two years at the company.

Tate recruited Corrales in May 2010 to serve as the executive vice president of engineering and operations. In this role, she has led the company's transition to a commercial production phase. For the past 18 months, Corrales has managed all operations, as well as engineering, purchasing and planning for both the San Jose, Calif., and Luckenwalde, Germany, sites.

Previously, Corrales held a number of executive positions, including several years as a vice president at Cisco, where she ran all of product operations for Cisco-branded products. She also spent 11 years in engineering and research and development management at HP.
