Natcore Technology Opens New Solar Research Center

0

Natcore Technology Inc., developer of a proprietary liquid-phase deposition (LPD) technology for solar cells, has formally opened a new research and development (R&D) center in Rochester, N.Y.

The R&D center will enable Natcore to accelerate its development of applications based on its LPD technology. At present, the most promising applications are flexible solar cells, tandem cells and black silicon solar cells, the company says.

The facility houses a laboratory/clean room, a gowning room, administration offices and a warehouse. Its centerpiece is AR-Box, the company's LPD processing station for growing an anti-reflective coating on silicon wafers in the process of manufacturing solar cells. This will be the primary tool in the development and commercialization of Natcore's new technologies, Natcore says.
