Consulting firm Navigant Consulting Inc. has hired Ralph Torrie as a managing director to lead the firm's climate change strategy and business development initiative as part of the emerging technologies and energy efficiency team within its energy practice.
Torrie has been actively engaged in the climate change issue since 1988. During the 1990s, he pioneered the methods and conventions that are now used throughout the world in local greenhouse gas quantification and analysis. He is the co-inventor of environmental planning software that has been translated into several languages and is used by more than 300 municipalities, companies and institutions on five continents. He has worked throughout the world, and in 2002, he received the Canadian Environment Silver Award for his work on climate change.
