Nevada Public Utilities Commission Approves Two NV Energy Solar PPAs

Las Vegas-based NV Energy says the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has approved two long-term solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy.

The approved contracts include a 20 MW solar photovoltaic project to be constructed near Searchlight, Nev., by American Capital Energy and a 26 MW solar photovoltaic project that will be constructed by a subsidiary of Fotowatio near Apex, Nev.

The power purchase agreements stem from NV Energy's 2008 request for proposals for renewable energy. Both projects are expected to be in operation by the end of 2011.
