Lake Forest, Calif.-based Chroma Systems Solutions Inc., a provider of power test instruments and systems, has introduced what the company says is the industry's first LED simulator for driver testing.
The 63110A electronic load allows the forward voltage and operating resistance to be adjusted to the LED's V-I curve and simulates ripple current characteristics of typical LEDs. The 63110A load also has increased bandwidth to allow for PWM dimming testing.
Until now, LED drivers have been typically tested with actual LEDs or resistive elements, the company explains. Chroma's new electronic load is designed to provide faster test methods, automation and repeatable load characteristics.
