RoseStreet Labs LLC, a Phoenix-based supplier of renewable energy products, and Sumitomo Chemical Co., a Tokyo, Japan-headquartered chemical company, have formed a joint venture named RSL Energy Inc., a Phoenix-headquartered developer and manufacturer of solar cells.

RSL Energy will use its patent licenses from both Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Cornell University to offer new semiconductor material that can achieve efficiencies of a triple junction device, the company says.

‘With our strategic relationship with Sumitomo Chemical and the Berkeley Lab, and Cornell breakthroughs in photovoltaic devices, we plan to leapfrog advances in solar cell applications,’ says Bob Forcier, RoseStreet Labs' president and chief executive officer.
