PrimeStar Solar Inc. of Longmont, Colo., has hired Ken Zweibel as the company's new president and chairman.
Zweibel was most recently the thin film PV research and design program manager for the Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). At NREL, he led the Thin Film PV Partnership, which develops multiple thin film PV technologies. Zweibel brings with him relationships with the DOE, NREL and the solar community to PrimeStar Solar.
‘The unique combination of PrimeStar's equipment design and thin film manufacturing skills, a license for NREL's world-record CdTe cell technology (at 16.5 percent efficiency), and CdTe's proven manufacturability and low cost provide PrimeStar a rare, low-risk opportunity for rapidly developing lowest-cost solar modules and then scaling them to high volume,’ Zweibel states.
