Oerlikon Solar says its thin-film silicon solar modules – with outputs up to 147 W – designed for its ThinFab production have passed all tests required according to IEC 61646 and IEC 61730 standards by TUV Rheinland.
The TUV Rheinland module performance and safety tests put Oerlikon Solar modules through several months of extensive examination, including accelerated lifetime tests for heat, freezing, thermal cycles, humidity and UV exposure, as well as mechanical impact tests.
With the TUV Rheinland-certified module, producers are able to gain a considerably higher price premium over uncertified modules, Oerlikon Solar notes. In many European countries, these certificates are mandatory in order to receive renewable incentives.
