Oerlikon Solar has opened a new end-to-end pilot production facility dedicated to the research and production of thin-film solar modules in Trubbach, Switzerland.
‘The new pilot line will further strengthen the Trubbach site,’ comments Dr. Uwe Kruger, CEO of Oerlikon. ‘It is the hub of our worldwide research and development operations.’
Oerlikon Solar says the new fab and laboratory will enable the company to simulate all stages of the manufacturing process, based on its patent-protected micromorph module technology. The company adds that it plans to have 1,000 employees in Trubbach by the end of 2009.
