There's a major new global market for solar energy, and it's located in the middle of Persian Gulf oil region. Abu Dhabi, the capital in the United Arab Emirates, will be receiving solar technology from the Germany's Conergy AG, according to a Bloomberg report. Mubadala Development Co., a state-owned investment company, is planning to install 40 MW of solar capacity, enough for 10,000 homes (the population of Abu Dhabi is 1.8 million).
It appears the solar systems will literally clear the local air: Abu Dhabi emits more pollution per capita then any other country, according to a World Wildlife Foundation survey cited in the Bloomberg report.
