Solana Beach, Calif.-headquartered Open Energy Corp., a provider of building-integrated photovoltaic (PV) roofing materials, has formed a joint marketing and distribution agreement with Eagle Roofing Products, a Sumterville, Fla.-based manufacturer of concrete roof tiles.
The two companies have collaborated on the development of solar tiles that match the colors of Eagle's three most popular concrete tiles – slate grey, terracotta red and earthen brown. The goal of the agreement is to train professional roofers to install Open Energy's PV systems, the companies say.
"This agreement with Eagle marks a fundamental next step in our industry," says David Field, Open Energy's senior vice president, sales and marketing." The wide spread adoption of safe, secure, emissions-free solar power will only occur if we make it easy and affordable for the building trades to incorporate photovoltaics in all new construction, as well as for homeowners to retrofit solar panels on their existing roofs."
