Solana Beach, Calif.-headquartered Open Energy Corp., a developer of solar technologies, has announced the company's first installation of its SolarSave Roofing Tiles on a new housing development.

William Lyon Homes recently selected Open Energy's solar tiles for its 77-unit housing development in Claremont, Calif. The tiles will be used on the roof of each condo unit in the community. According to Open Energy, each system will provide individual owners with slightly more than 1 kW of solar energy.

‘The Sunset Cove development is an important step forward for Open Energy, as this is our first installation where our SolarSave Roofing Tile is being used as a standard feature for an entire community,’ says David Saltman, Open Energy's president and chief executive officer.

Construction and installation of the solar tiles have been completed for five model units, and units will continue to roll out as the homes are sold, the company adds.
