OYA Solar Inc., a Windsor, Ontario-based developer of solar PV systems, has partnered with Atlas Tube, a manufacturer of hollow structural steel sections, to develop a 3.5 MW rooftop photovoltaic project. This will be the largest rooftop PV project in North America, according to the companies.
The project, which will cover nearly 650,000 square feet of rooftop space, will be located at the Atlas facility in Harrow, Ontario, and provide 30% of Atlas' annual energy consumption. OYA expects the first 500 kW section of the project to be commissioned by next spring. Total investment is expected to be $20 million.
Project partners include Polar Racking, Conergy Canada and Tremco Weatherproofing Technologies.
