San Francisco-based Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) has appointed John T. Conway to head the utility's newly created energy supply organization. Conway now leads PG&E's previously separate power generation and power procurement functions as senior vice president of energy supply and chief nuclear officer. Most recently, he served as PG&E's senior vice president of generation and chief nuclear officer.

Within the new organization, Fong Wan, senior vice president of energy procurement, will continue to be responsible for managing PG&E's diverse portfolio of power and natural-gas supply.

Recognizing the growing significance of renewable energy in the company's supply mix, PG&E also appointed Steven E. Malnight, vice president of renewable energy, to oversee the company's overall renewable strategy and public-policy initiatives. Malnight will also be responsible for the development of PG&E's emerging utility-owned renewable business.

Malnight joined PG&E in 2002 as a member of the company's MBA leadership program. Since then, he has held leadership roles at the director level in the company's customer care and finance functions.
