Paramount Citrus, an integrated grower, shipper and packer of fresh citrus products, has inaugurated a new citrus packinghouse in Delano, Calif.
The facility, which will be home to the company's E-Z peel Cuties California mandarins, includes a 2.7 MW solar plant on the rooftop. The array is expected to generate 15% of the power needed at the 640,000 square-foot facility.
In all, half the power required at the plant will come from clean energy: In addition to the PV array, the company has also added a 1.6 MW fuel cell project that is expected to supply a further 35% of power required.
