Petra Solar has begun shipping its SunWave technology – solar photovoltaic modules embedded with power-management and communications systems – from its South Plainfield, N.J., headquarters and manufacturing plant to purchaser PSE&G.
The units will be installed on utility poles in PSE&G's service territory. PSE&G and Petra Solar recently entered into a contract, valued at $200 million, which requires Petra Solar to deliver approximately 200,000 SunWave units for installation by Public Service Electric & Gas Co.
Petra Solar says it will ship 150 solar units this week, following an initial delivery of 50 units last week. It continues to gear up to fulfill its contract, which calls for shipments to increase to 1,500 units per month by the end of the year.
