A majority of Americans want the U.S. to place more emphasis on the domestic production of renewable energy than on that of oil, coal and nuclear power, finds a new Gallup poll.
The poll, which surveyed 1,022 Americans, found that 76% of respondents want the U.S. to emphasize domestic production of solar power, followed by 71% of respondents urging for wind power. According to Gallup, this means that no fewer than two in three Americans support the further domestic production of renewables.
Production of oil (46%), nuclear power (37%) and coal (31%), meanwhile, were the least favored among respondents.
