Powerway, a China-based manufacturer of mounting structures for utility-scale solar farms, says it will invest 10 million South African rands, via both self-financing and bank financing, to develop production facilities in South Africa.

The company will manufacture its Powerfit, PowerScrew and PowerTracker mounting structures at the new factories. Working in conjunction with the South African government's BBBEE program, Powerway will set up six production bases in several South African towns. According to the company, the investment will create more than 2,000 local jobs.

Powerway also plans to set up galvanizing facilities for steel structures used in solar farms, as well as a training center for the local workforce in Kimberley, South Africa.
