Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries, a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiber glass, has introduced Solarphire AR (anti-reflective) glass. This new product is designed to maximize solar energy transmission to photovoltaic cells.
Solarphire AR glass is formulated with a proprietary anti-reflective coating that facilitates the efficient conversion of solar light into energy. With 3.2-mm thicknesses, the product yields a solar-weighted transmittance of more than 93%, making it one of the industry's most transmissive glass products, according to the company.
