Premier Power, an El Dorado Hills, Calif.-based solar photovoltaic (PV) designer and installer, has formed a partnership with KB Home, a residential home builder headquartered in Los Angeles, to install solar tiles on the new Woodshire community located in Woodland, Calif.
The companies say that home buyers in the community can choose to have the solar panels installed. According to a recent survey conducted by KB Home, 32% of the buyers are willing to invest more money to install the 3 kW system on each home.
Home buyers who opt for the system will receive a $2,000 tax credit under the California Solar Initiative (CSI), which allots $3.2 billion for solar energy rebates in the state over the next 11 years. The rebate from the CSI plan is currently $2.80 per watt and will make a gradual decline over the next 10 years, the companies add.
