Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) and Mars Chocolate North America have completed a 2 MW solar power plant located adjacent to Mars Chocolate North America's headquarters in Hackettstown, N.J.
The solar garden comprises more than 28,000 ground-mounted solar panels on 18 acres of land. At peak production, the plant will provide the equivalent of approximately 20% of the factory's peak energy consumption.
PSEG Solar Source owns the system, and Mars has contracted for the entire output of the system. juwi solar Inc., based in Boulder, Colo., performed the engineering, procurement and construction services for the system and will also be providing the initial operation and maintenance services. Thin-film panels were provided by First Solar.
