Renewable Energy Corp. (REC) has chosen engineering company M+W Zander as its contractor for REC's new photovoltaics manufacturing complex in Singapore. The contract comprises planning and construction related to cell and module fabrication, including the integration of process tools.
‘It is an important success for M+W Zander to receive a major order from the world's largest producer of polysilicon and wafers for solar applications,’ says Jurgen Wild, an M+W Zander board member. ‘After having reached its full capacity, this project will demonstrate the high competitiveness of REC's solar energy solutions.’
The contract is part of the initial development of REC's Singapore plant. The planned cell capacity for this first phase is estimated at approximately 550 MW from eight production lines. The planned capacity for modules is estimated at approximately 590 MW from four production lines.
