Renewable Energy Corp. ASA (REC Group) is increasing solar-wafer production capacity at its manufacturing plant in Heroya, Norway, to a total of 1.75 GW by 2011.
Along with increasing the plant's production capacity, this latest investment will also enable the implementation of next-generation wafer and wire thickness levels, the company says.
‘This project provides very attractive financial returns by adding capacity at the same time as closing the technology gap between the older existing plants and the new plants currently under construction,’ says Ingelise Arntsen, executive vice president of REC Wafer.
