Renewable Energy Corp. (REC) has debuted the REC Peak Energy Plus Series module, which the company says is the first commercially available multicrystalline product based on cells with backside passivation technology.
The new module delivers an additional 5 W compared to the earlier-generation product. It has a nominal power output in watt classes ranging from 240 W to 255 W, with higher watt classes possible in the future. Backside passivation technology improves performance by enhancing the solar cell's response to red light, according to REC.
The new module is expected to perform particularly well in low-light conditions and at high temperatures, producing additional energy during early and late hours of the day, in hazy conditions and in warmer climates, REC adds.
