Fluor Corp. has been awarded a contract by Renewable Energy Corp. (REC) Group for the engineering, procurement, construction management and commissioning services for a new solar panel manufacturing complex in Singapore.

Fluor's contract is worth approximately $420 million, and its scope of work includes the utilities, infrastructure, facilities and roadways. The company booked the entire amount in the third quarter of 2008.

Fluor executed conceptual and preliminary engineering from its Dublin office and will execute the project's detailed design from its Singapore and Manila offices. Ground breaking took place in July, with production at the complex scheduled to begin in early 2010.

Once the complex is complete, REC expects production of 740 MW of wafers, 550 MW of cells and 590 MW of modules by 2012.
