REC Solar, a provider of solar electric systems, has been awarded six new federal projects totaling 9.1 MW, including five from the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) and one from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, as well as two utility projects.
REC Solar will design and install five solar arrays on VA hospitals in California, Arizona and Florida, located on roof-, ground- or carport-mounted arrays and tailored to each location. The USDA Forest Service installation will be a ground-mounted system located in the Greater Los Angeles area.
REC Solar will also construct a 1.1 MW ground-mounted array for a municipal utility in Hayward, Calif., and a 1.21 MW array for interconnection to the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative grid in Kapaa, Hawaii.
The projects will be completed by December 2011.
