REC Solar Inc., a designer and installer of grid-tied solar electric projects, and SunEdison have completed a 419 kW solar array in Gresham, Ore. The project, located at the city's wastewater treatment plant at 20015 N.E. Sandy Blvd., is the largest ground-mount solar array in the Pacific Northwest, according to the companies.
The solar array system will generate an estimated 460,000 kWh of clean solar energy in the first year of operation. SunEdison will own, operate and maintain the system. The city will purchase the energy produced for the term of the power purchase agreement.
The system was constructed with incentives provided by the Energy Trust of Oregon. REC Solar designed and installed the system, which created over 20 jobs for the project.
