Norway-based Renewable Energy Corp. ASA (REC) and Summit Power Group, based in Seattle, have established NorthLight Power, a project development company focused on the development and realization of utility-scale solar PV projects in the western U.S.
NorthLight Power expands on Summit Power's track record of developing more than 7,000 MW of electric power plants in the U.S., as well as REC's solar PV manufacturing expertise, the companies state. REC is currently ramping up an integrated solar production facility in Singapore. NorthLight Power recently has, through its affiliate North Star Solar LLC, signed a 60 MW solar power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
The North Star solar power plant will be constructed with solar PV modules manufactured by REC and is scheduled to be operational in 2013.
