Renewable Energy Center Coming To Long Island

0

Construction is under way for a $35 million alternative energy research center at Stony Brook University on Long Island, N.Y.

The Advanced Energy Research Technology Center was created in an alliance between New York's state government, Long Island business leaders and renewable energy scientists. The center will study ways to make solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydrogen-based energy solutions more affordable to consumers and businesses.

‘All of these energy sources are being used on Long Island and other places on the planet in a small way and we are going to see how they can be brought to the masses,’ says Robert Catell, vice president of National Grid USA Energy Corp. and a co-chairman of the new center.
