Atlanta-based Rheem Manufacturing Co. has added two new solar water heating products to its line of SolPak active solar water heating systems: tankless gas products and Rheem Marathon storage tanks.
SolPak systems can provide up to 80% of a home's hot water, depending on the area of the country in which they are installed, Rheem says. To account for the remaining hot water, homeowners are encouraged to install a secondary water heating source to ensure an adequate supply of hot water.
Using Rheem tankless water heaters as a secondary water heater provides energy efficiency, comfort control via a digital thermostat, space savings and installation flexibility, according to the company.
As an alternative to using tankless water heaters as a secondary water heater, homeowners can now select Rheem Marathon tanks as the system's solar storage tank. SolPak featuring Marathon combines the longevity of the Rheem Marathon electric water heater with the energy savings of an active solar water heating system, Rheem says.
