Indiana-based Inovateus Solar LLC has installed a 265 kW solar power system at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. The project consists of 913 photovoltaic solar panels on the roof of the aquarium's marine mammal pavilion.
Schneider Electric brought Inovateus in as the solar general contractor for this project in September 2013. The installation features Schneider Electric components, such as combiner boxes and inverters. Inovateus handled engineering, project management and integration. J. Ranck was the electrical contractor for the project. Schletter provided the racking systems.
The new solar energy system will power equipment in the aquarium's Great Lakes gallery.
‘Protecting and preserving the living world is at the heart of Shedd Aquarium, and we understand that conservation and sustainability begin at home in the aquarium,’ says Ted A. Beattie, Shedd president and CEO.
