Schweizer To Produce PV Modules At Chinese Plant

0

Germany-based Schweizer Electronic AG, which launched an energy division earlier this year, says it will begin producing PV modules in Asia and create sales channels for selling into the Chinese solar project development market.

Investment volume in the company's first module production line is expected to reach $50 million to $60 million. The plant will be equipped with up to four 100 MW production lines and will be located in Nantong, China, approximately 100 km northwest of Shanghai.

Schweizer says that demand for the type of high-efficiency modules it plans to manufacture is expected to increase over the next few years. Production is planned to begin in 2013. The strategic technology partner for the first of the production lines will be Schmid Group, a provider of PV turnkey production equipment.
