Eldorado Coffee Roasters has commissioned a 240.24 kW solar photovoltaic PV system at its worldwide headquarters in Maspeth, Queens, N.Y. The solar array will produce in excess of 280,000 kWh of energy annually, enough to satisfy the facility's yearly demand for electricity.
The project was engineered, constructed, and financed by Solar Energy Systems (SES), a PV integrator headquartered in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, N.Y. SES will operate and maintain the system, selling the generation to Eldorado at a discounted rate via a power purchase agreement (PPA).
The project represents SES' first PPA project in New York City, notes David Buckner, president of SES. Funding was provided by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
