The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that Sharp Manufacturing U.K. will invest $56 million (35 million pounds) in its Wrexham, Wales, solar manufacturing plant.

Three new assembly lines will be created as a result of this new investment, which will double the company's production capacity of photovoltaic solar panels to 500 MW. The company currently employs 750 workers at the site, and is planning to hire several hundred more.

This month, Sharp is also launching a new renewable energy academy at its Wales facility to train workers in solar installation.
