According to a Wall Street Journal news brief, Sharp Corp. is planning to increase its thin-film solar-cell capacity to 1,000 MW a year by 2010 – a leap from the company's current thin-film capacity of 15 MW.
The report says Sharp is investing US $724.9 million in a production site in Sakai, Japan, and the company is planning an additional 360 MW of capacity outside Japan. According to Sharp, its latest investment would enable 480 MW in thin-film capacity at its Sakai plant by March 2010.
