Thin-film module manufacturer Solar Frontier says that the Shimozuru power plant, a utility-scale solar power plant for which Solar Frontier supplied approximately 6,700 of its thin-film solar modules, is now online.
The project has an installed capacity of 1 MW, making it one of the largest solar power plants in Kagoshima Prefecture. Solar Frontier's copper indium selenide modules were installed within a 20,000 square-meter area. The operator of the plant is Izumi Solar Project KK, a joint-venture company headquartered Kamisababuchi, Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture.
According to Solar Frontier, the project is expected to generate approximately 1.2 million kWh annually. All of the power that is generated will be sold to the Kyushu Electric Power Co.
