Shin-Etsu Silicones Offering New Materials For PV Applications

0

Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, the U.S. subsidiary of Japan-based Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., has introduced a new line of silicone-based products specifically designed for solar PV applications.

The products include materials for both potting and sealing. The new KE-200, KE-200F, KE-210 and KE-210F materials – potting materials for junction boxes – are designed to make PV modules' junction boxes weatherproof, thus protecting the electronics encapsulated inside, the company explains. These two-component silicone potting materials quickly cure at room temperature, making the junction box both corrosion-proof and moisture-proof.

The KE-45, KE-4828 and KE-220 – new sealing materials for solar module frames and junction boxes – are one- and two-component silicone sealants that are engineered for sealing the junction box to the backsheet. They also provide a waterproof seal between the PV panel and the frame, the company adds.
