Siemens Energy says it has received an order for a solar field in Extremadura, Spain, from Spain-based engineering, procurement and construction contractor UTE Termosolar Olivenza (Acciona Infraestructuras, Acciona Ingenieria and Seridom). The order is for Termosolar Olivenza 1, a concentrating solar power (CSP) plant owned by Ibereolica Solar Olivenza SL.
The scope of supply encompasses the turnkey solar field, including the solar receivers. The parabolic-trough power plant, which will have a capacity of 50 MW, will be built in Olivenza (Badajoz) and include 123 loops of parabolic-trough collectors. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2012.
