Signet Solar, a manufacturer of large-area thin-film silicon PV modules, has formally withdrawn its plan to build an $840 million manufacturing center in Belen, N.M.
The company was unable to secure the needed funding to build the factory, the Valencia County News-Bulletin reports. Three months ago, the U.S. Department of Energy rejected the company's application for a loan guarantee to support the project.
The manufacturing facility was slated to create approximately 600 jobs in the area.
