Germany-headquartered Singulus Technologies has launched Materia, a new technology for the cleaning of silicon chunks and ingot saw-off cuts during crystalline solar cell manufacture.
The first Materia cleaning system has been delivered to an unspecified U.S. customer and was installed at the customer's site during the first quarter of this year, Singulus says.
Materia cleans silicon of interfering particles, and organic and metallic contaminations. The fully automated machine is designed to provide maximum throughput, according to Singulus. It also allows for economical use of water and chemical substances, as well as low energy consumption in order to reduce the cost of operation, the company adds.
