Sixtron Advanced Materials, a developer of silane-free industrial coatings, has hired Eugene Ngai as industrial safety advisor.

Ngai, who has 35 years' experience in industrial silane safety, previously was director of emergency response and disposal technology at gas giant Air Products and Chemicals Inc. In his new capacity at Sixtron, he will help to accelerate the integration of Sixtron's silane-free process into large-scale production environments.

Ngai started the Emergency Response Equipment and Training group at Air Products in 1990. As director of the Specialty Gas Emergency Response course, he has trained over 4,000 customers, government agencies and employees and over 750 firefighters in Compressed Gas Safety and Emergency Response.

Previously, he was also vice president of technology for Solkatronic Chemicals for 10 years prior to the company's acquisition by Air Products in 1999. He holds five U.S. patents for gas safety devices and one pending patent for purification technology.
