SMA America, a Grass Valley, Calif.-based manufacturer of solar power inverters, has introduced five new Sunny Boy inverters, which range from 3,000 to 7,000 W, and the Sunny Tower.
The new inverters include integrated load-break rated disconnect switches with conduit knockouts to speed installation, the company says. They are certified to the new Underwriter's Laboratories standards, with efficiencies ranging from 95% to 96%, and are compatible with SMA's data collection and communication devices.
SMA's new Sunny Tower is a central inverter for solar systems. It combines the flexibility, light weight and performance advantages of string inverters with the ease of wiring of a large central inverter, the company adds. Installers can mount the tower on a firm foundation, hang the inverters on the rack, and connect the AC and DC wiring.
