SMA says it has expanded its lineup of utility-scale inverter offerings for North America with the introduction of the turnkey SMA MV Power Platform and SMA MV Power Station. SMA America and SMA Canada are now taking orders for these medium-voltage solutions.
Key equipment in the Power Platform and Power Station, which are designed in 1 MW to 1.6 MW configurations, are two SMA Sunny Central inverters; a medium-voltage transformer; optional DC or AC/DC disconnect cabinets; and a control and supply panel for power distribution to local loads and/or field-tracker motors.
Available grid-management features include control of active and reactive power; automatic over-frequency response; power factor adjustment; power curtailment; and low-voltage ride-through. SCADA connectivity via Modbus and the SMA OPC Server is also available.
The company notes that the Power Platform and Power Station, which are assembled in facilities throughout North America, can be transported via truck and unloaded by crane, and then be installed on a concrete slab, vault or piers.
