Soitec says its latest concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) module with a claimed power-generating efficiency of 31.8% is in volume production.
The company says its CX-M500 module uses an anti-reflective coating to achieve 2,450 W nominal peak power output as compared with 2,335 W for its previous generation module. The new module has been certified according to the International Electrotechnical Commission nd Underwriters Laboratories standards for both both the U.S. and European markets.
Soitec's CPV module comprises a Fresnel lens plate and a bottom plate on which solar cells are mounted. The company says Fresnel lenses focus sunlight concentrated by a factor of 500 on the solar cells beneath.
