Solar Impact, a Gainesville, Fla.-based solar project designer and installer, has entered into a public-private partnership to install PV installations totaling 725 kW at eight Alachua County, Fla., public schools.
Gainesville Regional Utilities' (GRU) feed-in-tariff (FIT) program will allow private investors to own the installations. The investors will sell the electricity to GRU at $0.29/kWh under the 20-year FIT contract. The school district will receive lease payments from the investor as part of a 20-year roof rental agreement. The school district is expected to receive annual payments of $72,500 for 20 years, according to Solar Impact.
