Solar Installation Complete At Reuben Fleet Science Center

San Marcos-based Independent Energy Solutions has completed the installation of more than 10,000 square feet of solar panels on the roof of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center located in San Diego.

The result of a partnership between the Fleet Science Center, San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) and the city of San Diego, the new solar photovoltaic system generates more than 100 kW of electricity at peak production. The system consists of 684 modules manufactured by Kyocera Solar Inc., the companies say.

Owned and operated by SDG&E, the new solar panels feed electricity directly into the region's power grid. This contribution of clean solar energy will prevent the release of approximately 60 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year, the companies add.
