Solar Trust of America LLC, an integrated solar solutions company, says that its project development subsidiary, Solar Millennium LLC, has secured a final decision from the California Energy Commission (CEC) for its 500 MW Palen concentrating solar power (CSP) project.
Located in Riverside County, Calif., the Palen facility will house two power plants that will each generate 250 MW of nominal capacity. The plant will employ dry-cooling technology, which will enable it to use approximately 90% less water than comparable wet-cooled facilities, the company notes. A decision on the company's right-of-way application with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management is expected in spring 2011.
