Solar Thermal Energy Will Qualify For New Hampshire’s RPS

0

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch has signed legislation that allows thermal renewable energy generation – including solar thermal, geothermal and biomass – to qualify for the state's renewable portfolio standard (RPS), according to the Biomass Thermal Energy Council.

New Hampshire's RPS is 24.8% by 2025, with a 0.3% by 2014 carve-out for solar PV.

The provision will be available to residential, commercial and industrial applicants. Renewable energy certificates credits will be worth up to $29/MWh of useful thermal energy produced by qualified thermal projects, and the program is authorized at least through the year 2025.

Thermal projects will not qualify for the new incentives until Jan. 1, 2013.
