Solar Trust of America LLC says it has entered into a five-year employment agreement with Uwe T. Schmidt, who will assume the role of CEO. Schmidt also serves as chairman of the company's board of directors.
Schmidt has significant experience in the international energy and steel sectors, sophisticated multimodal supply-chain management, structured trade finance and project management.
Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Ferrostaal Inc., Ferrostaal AG's U.S. subsidiary, and as a member of Ferrostaal AG's management board. Upon accepting the new position at Solar Trust of America, Schmidt stated that he will no longer serve in any executive management capacities with Ferrostaal.
Schmidt has also held executive management positions in the energy, steel and large industrial turnkey project businesses at ThyssenKrupp AG.
