SolarCity has partnered with Walmart to install solar arrays at six Walmart stores in Colorado. The projects include Walmart's 100th solar installation in the U.S.
The installations, totaling 2 MW on three stores in Westminster and one each in Lakewood, Highlands Ranch and Lafayette, are expected to generate nearly 3 GWh of energy annually.
SolarCity engineered and delivered a customized system to meet the requirements of large, flat rooftop solar systems operating in the Rocky Mountain climate, Walmart notes. SolarCity, which has operations centers in Denver and Parker, Colo., will install, own and maintain the systems.
